The Master's Message

July 2008

Summer is in full swing and so are we.  Our softball game is Saturday, July 19Th at 10 am and it is THE BUZZ about the districts. 8 Lodges will be in attendance and 4 will have teams participating in the tournament.  This a Family event so prizes, games, magic and face painting are scheduled for our children. LOTS of FOOD to partake in and best of all Fellowship. Come and meet our newest (and youngest) members and their families. Come and meet guys from the 334Th and 336Th districts, heck I don't even know them all.

We have degrees scheduled for August and new applicants almost monthly.  What more can we ask for?

The following is a tentative list of events to close out our 2008 Masonic Year: A Dodger Game in August, Constitutional Observance BBQ in September, a Halloween Haunted House in October (big maybe), and Fancy Shmancy dinner in November, capped off by a Food and Fundraising event for the Midnight Mission during Thanksgiving.

We have a vibrant line of Officers for 2009 preparing their proficiency examinations and the strong leadership of John Acosta to take us into tomorrow.  Alhambra Lodge #322 is truly blessed with a bright future under their leadership.

I just received an email from a brother that I would like to share with you all.

"Hugo Lara.  how are you worshipful Master? I know your probably wondering who this is? You know who I am, because I'm one of your brothers,  R--- . I haven't forgotten you. Even though I have been absent through these three Mondays to perform my work in the Lodge, I haven't forgotten you and every other brethren in the lodge. One reason I'm writing this e-mail is because ever since I have discover the light, Worshipful with your help and the help of our Sr. warden, I have learned to be a different person and view my life in a different perspective way and it has not been the same ever since, I'm a different person with  all my family and friends, and its not easy!!"

"But that is not why I m writing you this letter, I just came back from a long trip, a trip from my vacation to witch I have travel to a part of the world in Mexico, were I encountered many different people and places but specially many Masonic symbols in the Pyramids of Teotihuacan and specially a city named Pachuca, where I saw an obelisk of Egyptian origin  with Masonic symbols. (if you were to opened Attached mail, you will see) I tried to obtain information about it, but no one could explain to me.. Till I went and asked old gentleman, who was about 80 years old  and lived in the area, he explained to me that this monument was placed here by English miners who were sent here in the year 1910. Miners who were looking for silver and gold and brought to this Country and City, Masonic teachings and  light and were they  build many Old historical houses and Buildings, and when they returned to England they took back with them the game of soccer and introduced it throughout Europe, Can you believe this!!!!"

If this isn't Freemasonry, then I don't know what is..

Every time I think of the Fourth of July, I am reminded of our forefathers, many of them Freemasons of course, and think of how they changed the course of human history and helped shape the future of our beautiful country. I am continually reminded of their courage in the face tyranny, and their vision of a better tomorrow at a time when all hope seemed lost.

Many of us became masons because of these men and were inspired to be, by the fraternity, somehow associated with them.  What can I say to express how great they really were?

Then it dawns on me...

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Happy Birthday our Great Nation, The United States of America, and Happy Fourth of July to all

Finally, Alhambra lodge invites everyone to all of our practices every Monday as well as, and especially ,degrees, and to refreshments afterwards... yes, even practices.

Fraternally,

Hugo A. Lara
